Tax Pack
The Tax Pack is a standalone add-on for investors who need Australian tax reports without upgrading to a full Standard or Premium plan. It can be added to a Free or Basic plan, and you can combine plans in either order — start with Tax Pack and add Basic later, or start with Basic and add Tax Pack when tax time comes around.
- 1 portfolio (one tax entity only) — if you have more than one tax entity, such as a personal portfolio and a joint account or SMSF, you will need the Standard plan. See Adding your investments into Sharesight for guidance on how to structure your portfolios
- Tax reports included: Taxable Income, Capital Gains Tax, All Trades
- Unlimited holdings for tax reports — the CGT and Taxable Income reports will account for all your holdings regardless of your base plan’s holding limit
- Your base plan’s holding limits still apply to the investments page and all non-tax reports (e.g. Free plan remains at 10 holdings, Basic at 30 holdings, for Performance, Diversity, Exposure, and other non-tax reports)
- Unrealised CGT and Historical Cost reports are not included — these are available on the Standard plan and above
- $59 per year (yearly subscription only)
To add the Tax Pack, go to Account → Plans and billing → Change plan.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Tax Pack available on a monthly subscription? No — the Tax Pack is only available as a yearly subscription. If you are currently on a monthly Basic or Free plan and add the Tax Pack, your entire subscription will move to a yearly billing cycle.
What is the difference between Basic and Standard for tax reporting? The Basic plan does not include any tax reports. Standard includes a full set of tax reports: Taxable Income, Capital Gains Tax, Unrealised CGT, Historical Cost, and All Trades. The Tax Pack gives you a subset of those — Taxable Income, Capital Gains Tax, and All Trades — as an add-on to your existing Free or Basic plan.
I’m on the Free plan and have more than 10 holdings. Will the Tax Pack report on all my holdings? Yes — the Tax Pack’s tax reports (Taxable Income, Capital Gains Tax, All Trades) will cover all your holdings regardless of the Free plan’s 10 holdings display limit. Your investments page and non-tax reports will still show only 10 holdings, but your CGT and Taxable Income reports will be based on your full portfolio.
I’m on the Basic plan with a 30 holdings limit. Does the Tax Pack give me unlimited holdings? The Tax Pack’s unlimited holdings applies only to tax reports (Taxable Income, Capital Gains Tax, All Trades). Your investments page and non-tax reports like Performance, Diversity, and Exposure remain subject to the 30 holdings limit from your Basic plan. This means Basic + Tax Pack gives you performance reporting for up to 30 holdings, plus unlimited holdings in your tax reports.
Can I add the Tax Pack to a Free plan? Yes — the Tax Pack can be added to either a Free or Basic plan. You can also add plans in either order: start with Tax Pack and add Basic later for performance reporting, or start with Basic and add Tax Pack when you need tax reports. Both combinations work.
I have more than one tax entity (e.g. a personal portfolio and a joint account or SMSF). Can I use the Tax Pack? No — the Tax Pack covers one portfolio only, meaning it is suitable for a single tax entity. If you need tax reports across multiple tax entities, you will need to be on the Standard plan, which supports up to 4 portfolios.
Is the CGT report in the Tax Pack the same as in other plans, or is it limited? The Capital Gains Tax report included in the Tax Pack is the same report available on Standard and Premium — it covers all your holdings with no limitations. The difference is that the Tax Pack does not include the Unrealised CGT and Historical Cost reports, which are separate reports only available on Standard and above.
Do I need the Tax Pack if I’m already on Standard or Premium? No — tax reports are already included in Standard and Premium plans.
When should I choose Tax Pack instead of upgrading to Standard? If you only need tax reports for a single tax entity and don’t need features like multiple portfolios, Unrealised CGT, or Historical Cost, the Tax Pack is a lower-cost option. If you have multiple tax entities or need those additional reports, Standard is the better fit.
What is the difference between Starter, Basic, and Tax Pack? The Starter plan has been retired and is no longer available to new users — existing Starter users can continue to use it indefinitely. Basic and Tax Pack are its replacements.
- Non-tax reports — Starter and Basic are identical. Both include Performance, Sold Securities, All Trades, Diversity, and Exposure, with a 30 holdings limit.
- Tax reports — Starter includes Taxable Income, Capital Gains Tax, Unrealised CGT, and Historical Cost, all subject to a 30 holdings limit. Tax Pack includes Taxable Income, Capital Gains Tax, and All Trades with unlimited holdings, but does not include Unrealised CGT or Historical Cost.
- Basic + Tax Pack — together these cover most of what Starter provides, with the added benefit of unlimited holdings for tax reports. The exception is Unrealised CGT and Historical Cost, which require Standard.
