What can I track in Sharesight?

What can I track in Sharesight?

An overview of every investment type you can track in Sharesight, and how to add each one.

How to search and add an investment

Sharesight supports thousands of securities across global exchanges. To add a holding:

  1. From your portfolio, click Add investments.
  2. Search by ticker code (e.g. VAS, AAPL) or company/fund name.
  3. Select the correct security from the results and click Add holding.
  4. Enter your trade details and click Save.
If your investment isn't found in the search, you can add it as a Custom Investment and manage prices manually. Most unlisted assets — property, term deposits, precious metals — use this approach.

See Supported Stock Exchanges, Mutual Funds, Managed Funds, ETFs, etc. for the full list of supported markets.

Equities

Listed shares

Shares listed on a supported stock exchange are tracked automatically — Sharesight fetches daily prices and handles corporate actions.

Supported exchanges include ASX, NZX, NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, TSX, and many more. See Supported exchanges for the full list.

ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds)

ETFs listed on supported exchanges are tracked automatically with daily price updates.

Managed funds

Unlisted managed funds are not listed on an exchange — you invest directly with the fund manager or through a platform. Add them as a Custom Investment and update unit prices manually or via bulk upload.

See Supported managed funds for a list of managed funds available in Sharesight.

Property

Investment property

Sharesight does not connect to property valuations, but you can track investment properties as a Custom Investment by manually updating the estimated value periodically.

See Investment property for a step-by-step setup guide.

Cash and fixed income

Cash accounts

Sharesight has a dedicated Cash Account feature to track cash holdings alongside your investment portfolio. You can log deposits, withdrawals, and interest payments.

See Cash account to get started.

Term deposits and fixed interest

Term deposits and other fixed interest securities can be tracked using the Custom Investment feature, set to the Fixed Interest investment type.

See Term deposit for a setup guide.

Bonds

Listed bonds on supported exchanges can be searched and added like shares. Unlisted bonds can be tracked as a custom investment.

Alternatives

Cryptocurrencies

Many popular cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) are supported directly — search by name or ticker. For unsupported coins, use a Custom Investment.

See Cryptocurrencies for setup instructions.

Precious metals

Gold, silver, and other precious metals can be tracked as a Custom Investment using spot price or your own valuation.

See Precious metals for a setup guide.

Foreign currency

You can add foreign currency holdings to track their value in your portfolio's base currency.

See Add Foreign Currency for setup instructions.

Superannuation

Your superannuation balance can be tracked as a Custom Investment to include it in your overall net worth view.

See Superannuation for setup instructions.

Other instruments

Warrants and stock options

Listed warrants can be searched and added directly. Employee stock options and unlisted warrants are added as custom investments.

See Warrants and stock options for how to record grants, exercises, and expirations.

Dividend Reinvestment Plans (DRP)

If your broker automatically reinvests dividends as new shares, Sharesight can track this automatically.

See Track dividend reinvestments for setup instructions.
